Planting upside down tomatoes is not entirely different to the process of planting tomatoes in a garden on the ground. One thing is certain, however, it is much easier. That being said, this post details easy ways for you to start your upside down tomato garden. The best part about the process is that this easy tomato growing method can be done in the county, the city, the beach, or anywhere else. All you need is a place to hang your tomatoes and plenty of TLC. The flexibility of this method just can’t be beat.
It’s not hard to find a bucket, and that’s all you’ll need for this method of growing tomatoes upside down. All you need is a 5 gallon bucket for the upside down container.
You’ll need a hole in the lid and bottom of the bucket. The container must be filled with soil (preferably fertilized). Dig out a cavity for the tomato plants, and wait for it to grow about ten inches from the bucket. It is then ready for hanging.
If you want your upside down garden to be a little prettier than a 10 gallon bucket, you can always substitute the bucket for a coconut-lined hanging basket. Voila, you now have an easy garden!
For an even easier upside down tomato garden, you could always just buy a plant that is prepped and ready to hang. You don’t get much easier than that!
